KRED could be the call letters of an American broadcast station.
I imagined such a channel, nicknamed “channel red”. No communist metaphor, just the color red. The logo would just be full screen red, just like in the simulation on the cover art, which I did myself. Can you tell?
So each piece is named after something that makes me think of red. (For me 1=white 2=yellow 3=red 4=blue 5=green 6=black. Why? I’on’t know)
More modular synth improvs. Also, another instance of speech creeping into the music, pre-tone set. The percussion on “channel red itself” is created by four independent streams of TV sound, running througha voltage controlled filter being triggered in sync with the sequencer. Midway through the piece the filter is opened to reveal the source of the sounds. Some of these pieces have appeared in excerpted form on "patterns for the outside surface of a cube".
I actually used that little black and white tv as my only screen for more than a decade.
